Drumming Arm

The Drumming Arm is an electromyography driven prosthetic designed to restore grip control for amputees. The effectiveness of the arm was evaluated in human experiments under real performing scenarios for common drumming techniques. Results of the human studies demonstrate similar bouncing patterns between drummers' healthy hand and the prosthetic for single, double, and triple-stroke rolling techniques. The technology for the arm was licensed to Google which gifted the arm to amputee drummer Jason Barnes and featured it in a documentary.
