SpherePhones is an open environment headphone system comprising of four drivers positioned around each ear, designed to deliver immersive 3D spatial audio for virtual reality. Offsetting the drivers from the ear canal allows users to perceive ambient environmental sounds concurrently with headphone audio, thereby  creating a more engaging and accurate auditory experience. The multidriver configuration facilitates improved three-dimensional sound localization, notably in the vertical elevation perception where traditional spatial audio headphones often fall short.
