Beatbugs
The Beatbugs were hand-held percussive instruments that allowed for the creation, manipulation, and sharing of rhythmic motifs through simple gestural interaction. The Beatbugs were also adapted to connect between novice and professional musicians by supporting recording and manipulation of musical phrases in live performances. When multiple Beatbugs were connected in a network, players could form collaborative compositions by interdependently sharing and developing each other’s motifs.
